Teen Pregnancy
This year approximately 750,000 teenaged women between the ages of
15 and 19 will become pregnant. Because teen pregnancy and marriage
are discouraged by our society, many young women and their male partners
will have many questions and concerns. If you are a pregnant teenager,
or you know someone who is, we hope this site will offer some answers
to your questions.
Other sources for help and advice include parents, partners, friends
and doctors.
When you're pregnant, it is almost always best to speak openly with
the people who care about you, because this can be very traumatic time
for some young women. No website can answer the most common questions
that teens have - will my boyfriend stay with me, should we get married,
how will my parents respond, what will my friends think, should I keep
the baby? Since it is sometimes difficult to discuss these concerns
openly with the people who are closest to you, many organizations are
now available to assist you with help and advice.
This site will give you some answers to the health questions you may
have about your pregnancy. Regardless of your age, whether teen or adult,
you'll want to know if you're really pregnant, which pregnancy tests
are most accurate and easiest to use, what are the physical symptoms
of pregnancy, and what should you expect as you advance through the
different stages of maternity.
If your pregnancy was unplanned, you can get counseling and a full
list of all available options at your local Planned Parenthood office.
They will offer pregnancy testing and will offer counseling if you request
it.
